In short: we collect what you type into the form so we can answer you and do the work you ask about. We do not sell it, rent it or trade it to anyone.
Who we are

What we collect
- What you send us. The form asks for your name, email, phone, the county and state of the minerals, the name of the person who died, about when, an operator and owner number, your notes, and whether you are an heir or a landman.
- Family details. Heirship work involves other people: relatives, their marriages, children and deaths. We use what you tell us about them only for the research you asked about. Please do not put Social Security or bank account numbers in the form.
- Server logs. Our hosting keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, page requested, time) for security and reliability.
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The descent chart runs entirely in your browser. The facts you enter into it and the shares it shows are not sent to us unless you copy them into the form or an email.
How we use it
- To answer you and scope the work.
- To do the research and paperwork you hire us for. That includes sending an operator what it asks for a division order: recorded instruments, death certificates and the heirs’ addresses.
- To keep the records the law requires, and to keep spam and abuse off the site.
We do not sell personal information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to data brokers, advertisers or lead sellers.
Recorded documents are public
An affidavit of heirship that is recorded becomes part of the county’s public records, with the names, marriages, births and deaths in it. Anyone can read it, including people who never used this site.
Who else handles it
- Google Firebase and Cloud Firestore host the site and store form submissions in the United States. Submissions go into a Cloud Firestore database that Our Landmen LLC also uses for its other websites.
- Email forwarding delivers mail sent to hello@heir.land to our inbox.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email hello@heir.land with “Privacy request” in the subject. Once we have confirmed the request comes from you, we answer within 45 days, at no charge. Recorded documents in a county’s records are that county’s to change, not ours.
Keeping it
Everything moves over HTTPS, and Google encrypts stored data at rest. We keep an inquiry while we are talking with you and afterward only as long as business and tax records require.
